What the Rumley Foundation funds
We support programs and initiatives, not one‑time aid to individuals, so the help reaches further and lasts longer.
Who qualifies for support
We support nonprofits, churches, and community-based groups in Southern West Virginia that serve their neighbors directly. Applicants should be tax-exempt organizations under IRS section 501(c)(3).
If your organization helps people meet practical needs in your community, you likely fit.
What this looks like in practice
We think in real situations, not categories. Support might help an organization:
- Expand a food program so it can reach more families through the month.
- Improve access to transportation so people can reach work, appointments, and essentials.
- Create stability through practical support that helps families stay on steady ground.
If your work looks different but meets a real need, we still want to hear about it. These are examples, not limits.
What we prioritize
We look for support that lasts. Our funding goes to specific projects and initiatives, the hands-on work that delivers help directly, rather than to day-to-day operating costs. In practice, that means funding the things that improve stability, expand access, or create an outcome more durable than a one-time fix. We keep this open on purpose, because real needs rarely fit a rigid checklist.
What we do not fund
The foundation supports community programs and initiatives rather than direct aid to individuals. If you are an individual in need, a local nonprofit or church may be able to help, and we are glad to support the organizations that do.
